Hi there,

I am trying to calculate the J integral around a crack between two concentric orthotropic cylinders.

the crack tip node is 56, but at tyhe end of the analysis in the status window the crack front node is shown as 55415 (which does not exist).
Furthermore the J integral values are zero for all contours.

Not to mention the fact I am unable to get the command

GET, J, CINT, 1,,56,,3

work, as I always get an error message on a mismatch with node 56 (in the command you are supposed to indicate the crack tip node).

Hoping the problem is trivial I attach an input file.

thank you very much

Best Regards

Marco

In your input file provided it appears that line for node 56 selection is commented out. Is this the issue?

NSEL,S,LOC,x,radius2
NSEL,R,LOC,y,contactlength
!NSEL,S,NODE,,56
CM,CRACK_TIP_NODE_CM, NODE
ALLSEL,ALL

Steve,

thanks for replying.
I suspect the issue is elsewhere.
In fact the line is commented out as the node selection, necessary for the subsequent CINT command (to calculate the J integral) is performed by the two precedent NSEL commands, through pointing at the coordinates of node 56.
I thought, just as a check, to try the direct selection through the NSEL command which only later was commented out, as the final result was the same.
