Looking for suggestions on methods of evaluating jobs to verify that person is getting paid fairly. I have a very old number system that I am currently using but will welcome opinions.

Are you evaluating performance of people, or pay scale according to job title? I'm a bit confused by your post.

If you have job titles that correspond to "standard job titles" you might be able to find employment statistics and salaries via a Google search. "The attempt and not the deed confounds us."

What I am evaluating is the appropriate rate for that specific job (not the person). For example I use a form today for which I assign points based on experience, education, and 8 othe factors. The points are totalled and I have another chart for which I compare the points to a grade scale and that grade scale pays a certain amount. The problem is we no longer have grade scales. Hope this helps.

Check with your HR department or local HR association. They usually maintain some sort of database regarding salary and wage ranges in your local area. They can be very helpful, but you may have to do some research to find out what the exact functions and experience levels are for each job listed.
