Good morning Guys.
Please I need help!
I am trying to run a simulation of a steel projectile impacted on alumina plate. I used J-C model for the projectile and Johnson Holmquist model for the ceramic. Below is the feedback I got and the simulation was aborted:
THESE CHARACTERS DO NOT CONVERT TO FLOATING POINT VALUE
INVALID FLOAT VALUE
*USER MATERIAL,TYPE=MECHANICAL CAN ONLY BE GIVEN ONCE FOR A MATERIAL
Analysis Input File Processor aborted due to errors.

I have attached the INP file to this post.
I would appreciate every help I can get.
Thank you so very much!

Is this keyword necessary ?

Code:
*User Material, constants=1
32.,

I do not really know. It is my first time of trying out this model. Do you suggest I erase it?

Yes, try without it. Compare your input file with the one provided in the "High-velocity impact of a ceramic target" example problem.

I tried to erase it and the part of "*USER MATERIAL,TYPE=MECHANICAL CAN ONLY BE GIVEN ONCE FOR A MATERIAL" has been addressed. Now I am left with "THESE CHARACTERS DO NOT CONVERT TO FLOATING POINT VALUE
INVALID FLOAT VALUE"

There's a small typo in the material properties - replace D2 = 0,7 with D2 = 0.7. Dot must be used as a decimal separator everywhere in Abaqus.

WOW WOW WOW!
You are really a great help. It has worked.
However, I got this feedback "The elements contained in element set ErrElemExcessDistortion-Step1 have distorted excessively" It just a trial version. I guess I need to sketch them to scale because the ceramic material seems to be too thin for the huge projectile. Do you also think that might be the case?

Make sure that element deletion is enabled and proper damage variables are requested. The aforementioned example problem might be helpful also in this regard.

Thank you for your feedback. How do I enable element deletion please?

Seen! I think I cannot enable element deletion in this case since I already enabled "convert to particles" for the ceramic plate. The elements automatically delete with the above command. However, I could enable it for the impactor. I will run it again and see what changes.
Thank you!
