I've got a 230-kV disconnect rated at 1200A that I need to be able to handle a bit more (200-300A). I've heard of mechanical jumper devices that can do this. Could anyone give me some general information/manufacturers so I could do some research?

The switch is a double sidebreak Southern States Type RDC.

Thanks in advance.

The most reliable thing to do is to replace the disconnect switch with a higher rating. At 230 kV, there is a great danger that could result if the disconnect switch could fail when it is already in operation.

Please review properly if the offered revision or modification is very reliable.

It may be possible to simply replace the live parts with higher rated parts. Talk to Southern States.

The warnings are appreciated. Rest assured that we have new disconnects ordered. The inquiry was simply to follow up on something I had heard elsewhere, to see if there was an *industry accepted* way of increasing ampacity on these disconnects using some sort of jumper.
