Hi, all. I am new here. I am an automotive diagnostic technician in Ft. Worth, Texas. I usually have no problems isolating faults with vehicles but, after all, I am human also, just like we all are. I tend to get stuck from time to time.
Right now I have a `92 Chevy K1500 giving me fits. This is an odd one and wanted to run it by you guys to see what you thought or if anyone had seen the problem before.
The 4x4 system blows the 4x4 fuse every time it is put into 4x4. Every solenoid, switch and related component in the system that I unplug will resolve the blowing fuse issue. I have a feeling the biggest problem I have is that the wiring diagrams in "Alldata" are incorrect yet this is all I have to work with. I can`t even locate the transfer case relay that is shown in the wiring diagram. It is not where Alldata says it is supposed to be. I follow the harness in the whole system and still cant` find the relay.
Anyone seen this problem yet? My local transmission shop said they have never even seen this problem. Oh, another point, there appears to be no direct short to ground that I can find.
Is there a good place online to get good wiring diagrams?
Thank you, Jeff
