Hi to all!
I have a part from a turbine that I have to weld.
I called the factory and they told me that it was made from K18.
Its a kind of stainless steel, I need to know the chemical composition and the pre/post weld process to weld it.

Hope somebody knows the equivalent in ASTM, AWS, etc etc.

Thanks!
Mauro.-

Have the piece subjected to PMI (Positive Material Identification) using a portable x-ray florescence (XRF) unit. Once the material is typed, you can let us know the grade of stainless steel.

Hi Monkeyking11,

have you tried to Google this: "K18 steel"?

It will give you more insight and links to what you want to know.

I have the same problem.
Tried google/yahoo
Cannot find useful information about K5 stainless steel?!

Never heard of it. I know Allegheny makes a K12 armor plate alloy.
