KEB Combivert Drive

We have a KEB Combivert Drive, F5 series Ruvatronic RT5/1001 driving a Leybold Roots vacuum pump. The X2a control card is wired to run the drive at a fixed speed of 50 hertz but for some reason the drive would not go above 10 hertz. I am told they had this problem before and swapped out the drive and it fixed the problem. KEB says they cannot supply a replacement for 5 weeks and this is a critical piece of machinery. It was sent out for repair. I was unable to check the system out or do any testing beforehand. They tell me the drive was not faulted or displaying any errors so I am concerned the problem is likely not the drive but I do not know the system well and I am not very familiar with KEB drives. Tech support was not much help. I know it's not much to go on and I apologize for that but just throwing it out there in case someone is familiar with this system and could point me in the right direction. Any comments or advice\help would be greatly appreciated.

Recommended for you

Check the current limit setting.
Check that the unused inputs are clear.
Check the motor parameter settings.

Thanks Bill, Checking the parameter setting for constant current setting it states " if this value is exceeded it will reduce the output hertz till it is in range again" (paraphrasing). I believe the issue is mechanical and this is what is happening. When I get it back I will install the drive and monitor this parameter. It gives a indication if it is in a stalled state.
 
Check against the other drives. It may be set too low.

It could be something as basic as the fixed frequency setting not being 50Hz.
Maybe try another method of running the VFD-use the keypad and run up to 50Hz from there or use a 0-10Vdc input/potentiometer to get to 50Hz.
However, if it is a critical piece of equipment and the turnaround is 5 weeks, I would be looking at another supplier for my VFD.
 
Your best source of information for this system should come from Leybold.

This is a proprietary system out of Europe. They have been using the KEB Combiverts for many years and have had special firmware designed for their application. Not a standard off the self VFD and I am sure that the new inverter would be coming from Europe.

This is the first Leybold system that I have heard of using the KEB F5 generation of inverters. Do you have a part number of this inverter (ART-NR)?

Are you getting any errors on the inverter itself?
