I can't remember the variable that controls the opening and keeping drawing file settings for osnap, ie what do I do to keep the osnap on, grid on, etc when I open a drawing so the settings of the drawing are on when I open it?

Dear kmacsys;

Have you already tried entering "OSNAP" and setting your preferences. Is the "OSNAP" button at the bottom of the screen toggled to the on position ?

Regards Adrian

These settings are reffered to as local settings. When you save the drawing with the settings set, they should remain the same. If you want these settings set up to open in a new drawing you need to open ACAD and set the perameters you want ie... grid,osnap,limits, and units Then save the drawing as acad.dwt ( I believe you will save inside the ACAD support folder, but don't quote me on that.) To find out for sure do a find for this file.

What I do is just set a button macro, with your most used snap settings in.
One click, and you're ready.

Here's the macro for my usual settings, you can use it and modify it to suit yourself.

'-osnap end,mid,int,cen,nod,qua,per,tan,nea

It does make sense to set all of your preferences
in the acad.dwt file since this is your basic template
for drawing. You might want to save acad.dwt as
acad2.dwt and rename it if this does not work and to
have a backup copy.
