Keeping Track of Stamped Projects? 1

Curious if anyone keeps a record (e.g. spreadsheet) of all the projects they have stamped in their professional life? I have not yet done this, but considered it as this count continues to grow. Seems like a good way to quickly reflect back on different projects or refer back if needed.

If I didn't start doing this the day I got my seal, I would've lost count extremely quickly. And I didn't do that at the beginning, so I lost count and could never go back and figure it out. There's been too many countless little letters and details.

Actually if I knew how many times my seal was out there, might be worse for my mental health.

I think if you're organized and have things going into different folders, you'll have the record by default.

If you want to get fancy, you can write a script to compile it into a spreadsheet, but that's beyond my abilities. Maybe someone on Fiverr can do it for cheap, as long as they provide the source code and you compile it yourself to avoid viruses and stuff. I also don't see much use to it. Something more useful would be having a photographer or yourself take pictures of each one and use it for marketing.

Any document I seal, I always keep a pdf of it. I want a record of what it was when I sealed it. I do it because I've caught contractors altering my drawings before.

Honestly, it is easier for me to find my documents in Gmail than anywhere else.

I have a lot of them... going back over 30 years... I nearly lost them a couple of months back due to a ransomware virus. I have no idea of what a lot of the files are, but I have them...

My main employer for the last three years... just over 800 projects... some of them only an hour or so work.

I did this for about 9 months at one position. Used my stamp, entered in the project information to the spreadsheet. This was mainly due to security of seal. It got to be a lot of work to update once you figured in the revisions to drawings (is this a new entry? or an update of an older entry?) and also the letters.

In my own practice, I have decided to not directly track "stamped documents". However, I do keep track all projects and their output. All stamped documents are retained for 10+ years as per my Association requirements.

If I wanted to go back and track the data I could but I do not see any use of this task other than having data-for-data's-sake.
