Is there an easier way of linking the thickness of a part other than linking all the dimensions?
This question has come up many times since I have been using SolidWorks and the answer is yes.

1.) After you create your first extrude double click on the feature to show the dimensions.

2.) Next right click on the dimension that represents the thickness and pick Link Values. For the name type in thickness.

3.) The next time you do an extrude a "Link to thickness" will appear in the property manager. BBJT CSWP

That seems simple enough ;-)

I personally like to use a DT for linking my dimensions together. Plus it will make for easier automation down the road if I need it. Scott Baugh, CSWP [spin]

I agree with the automation part. However using a design table still requires you to pick each individual dimension where as the link check box will link them automatically when you extrude.

On a design table note...At SolidWorks World in Vegas they showed a peak of 2002. One of the things they showed was automatic generated design table. In other words you have the option when creating a design table to have all the dimensions added to it. It also gave you the option to change a dimension which inturn changed the value in the design table. I think they used the term by-directional. BBJT CSWP
