Keeps crashing in cache mode

I am regularly opening a number of large products so am running in cache mode all the time. The problem is each time I open a cached file which I think should make it very quick to open it is taking a long time and often crashing. It also keeps telling me it has deleted the oldest cache file.

Is it possible to increase the cache file storage area or should I be doing something differently?

Any help would be great as it is starting to get frustrating.

Cache can be increased in Tools --> Options --> Infrastructure --> Product Structure --> Cache Management. You can set a network path for the local cache to share the cgr info. Under CGR Management -- turn on Save level of detail, save lineic elements, optimize cgr, save density and Save 3D annotations.

It is only fast to open if the cgr's are created and up to date. The cgr will be obsolete if you are working on a file in design mode, forcing a regeneration at initial load.

Sounds like you have issue with the files already cached, id issues I would guess. Do you have a pdm? have you tried to clean the cache folder and settings?

I have seen CGR files become corrupt and cause CATIA to crash, especially if CATIA crashes while generating them. In this case, you will need to clean out your cache folder and let CATIA generate new ones.

Hi,
there is a small chance that the settings for 3D accuracy are set to small values (Tools-Options-General-Performance, 2nd section "3D Accuracy" - try "Fixed" for small parts, proportional for mostly big parts)). If so, CATIA tries to do the tesselation with lots of triangles. This could be a problem while calculating the parts tesselation representaion (especially for huge cylindrical faces).

Try to set in back to 0,2 (default) if value is smaller than this.
Or try to use i.e. 0.5 to decrease the triangles and speed up your machine.

Thanks gents, I have increased teh available storage size for the cache as suggested by Derek and set my 3d accuracy to a lower number as suggested by Thomas. Between the two they have sorted my problems opening the cache files, the accuracy maybe also what was causing the issues in 2d which seemed to be slow creating the views.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions.
