Hello,
I'd like a keyboard command for toggling between shaded and unshaded planes. Under customize->Keyboard I scrolled down the view list and shaded mode is there and planes are there but not shaded planes. Does anyone know where it is located or has anyone created some other kind of shortcut for this?
Thanks.

That is a System option and you can't change them with a keyboard shortcut that I'm aware of. Maybe you can setup some type of macro that would open up the Tools\Options\System Options\Display/Selection\ and uncheck, recheck "Display Shaded Planes" then close the option menu.

I don't know how that could be done, but I don't rule anything out with the use of API.

Yup, it can be done. Because we have a few babies and whiners who couldn't deal with the effects of "Infer From Model", our custom toolset does this kind of thing when SW first comes up. It sets a bunch of default system options. BTW: although you can still set them back again, it is a good way to enforce company standards. (In some cases, the tool check on 'em again when you use one of its functions.... sneeky!!!

Any chance you could you post the macro to do this?

Just for the hell of it, I tried to make a simple macro, by recording keystrokes, to "Tools\Options\System Options\Display\Selection" and either check or uncheck "Display Shaded Planes" but it does not work.
My knowledge of Macros/API/VB is somewhere between extremely limited & non-existent.

BTW: Are you from the "Civilised South" or the ...ahem... "Neanderthal North"? [ponder]

I'll ask for information on the method, however don't hold your breath. See my other post replies on giving out code at our company. Partially a company issue, partial our guru is really busy. (Note that there is work involved -he would probably have to break out some code segements for you as there may be some hard coded things that are security issues and I don't want the Dept of State on my @$$.)
