Concrete or precast piles, you extend the reinforcing. With steel piles, you can weld reinforcing or headed studs to transfer the load.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Do you feel any better?

For concrete columns, drilled shafts, or caissons, in addition to the reinforcing, we provide a shear key in the concrete, by forming a pocket about 2" deep in the top of the shaft, and with square plan dimensions approximately 40% of the diameter. So for a 36" circular shaft, the formed keyway would be 2" deep and 15" by 15".

I don't quite understand the word "keying". If it is meant to relieve the pile of fixity, simply cut the pile below the bottom mat of the pile cap reinforcement will do. No reinforcement shall be extended into the pile cap then.
