Keystone Retaining Wall Seismic Design 1

I am designing a Keystone wall in California and have a PGA of 0.43. The NCMA Segmental Retaining Wall Seismic Design Manual indicates that if the PGA is greater than 0.29g then the designer should carry out a deformation analysis for sliding at the base using a Newmark type analysis.

The proposed walls are approximately 10 feet in height.

Does anyone know offhand if the Keystone program is accounting for this type of analysis.

Just contact Keystone directly and the technical support team.

Keystone was purchased by an engineering firm several years ago and they had very sound engineering for 10 -15 years before that. The seismic situation may just not be in the design manual.

They learn the designers needs when they are asked for solutions/applications.

If you call Keystone sales department, CD with retaining wall software will be mailed to you. I would also look at the soils report and do a quick hand calculations for the static pressures AND the Mononobe Okabe seismic pressure.

Some counties would let you disregard seismic pressures for walls shorter than 12 ft. Anyway, it is important to verify the software output so you know how conservative the computer design is.
