HI,
We usually design a kicker usually 75mm. high under masonry wall to help builders align the wall, column and also prevent water from canopies/external wall surface getting into and accumulating under the mortar bed of the tiles etc. I will like to know if there is any information like what is the best way to make sure that the kicker which is usually placed after the casting of the slab does not develop any separation with the slab or is it possible that the kicker be cast together with the slab. There is a concept called shear key where a 6mm. bar in an inverted U is placed each 600mm to 1000mm drilled into the slab/kicker. Is there any details further explaining this concept. Thanks.
