Hello,
I made a model (Geneca wheel) consisting of 4 parts.
Part1 = base part with 2 shafts
Part 2 = driver wheel with 1 pin
Part 3 = roller in the pin
Part 4 = Geneva wheel with 6 slots
I am trying to simulate this model with 3 revolute joints
(shaft axis + wheel axis and center pin + roller)
and 1 prismatic joint (between a line and a plane on
the roller) with a line and a plane in one slot of the
geneva wheel.
Of course, the base part is fix.
When I simulate this mechanism, it works for one slot
and after a certain angle of rotation, the Geneva wheel
returns to it's original position...( it does not see the
other slot).
Is there a way to apply the prismatic joint to the other
slot without over constraining the model ?
Can you help me to find a solution so it will rotate for
all the other slots

Thanks

hi,

i've just read your problem, and i figure out that you misanderstand some of the basic kinematiks rules: your slider cannot do the job because sometimes it should be ON and sometimes OFF. This cannot be ( or have fun with VERY ADVANCED knowledgeware).

So you gotta think differently and give the system the link between the 2 rotation, i mean a POINT on CURVE relation. It does work, but you will have a very pleasant time finding the right curve !! You even may have to cheat a little bit, but dont tell other..

i ve done it, it does work
Have fun,

Eric
