Hello Everyone,

Im having difficulty in understanding the hip, knee nad ankle angles as reported by gait analysis softwares. For example, a particular trial processed by visual 3d reports the the minimun and maximum ankle angles are -10.66 and 19.47 degrees respectively. What I need to know is with which reference these angles are typically measured (with floor or body segment) and what doeas the negative sign mean? Please help me out on this. Thanks in advance

I don't think there is a universal accepted standard for ankle angles. You really need to check your particular brand of software's manual. If I had to pose a guess, I'd say -10.66 is dorsal flexion and 19.47 is plantar flexion.
