Lack of chlorine dosing

Hi! In a seawater system in FPSO, we use a sodium hypochlorite generation system in order to mantain the chlorine residual after seater pumps around 0.5 ppm. In case of failure of hypochlorite generation system, what should be the maximum repair time so that there is no damage to the water system due to the bacteria proliferation? What is the speed of bacterial growth in a non protected system?

What is your temperature?
I have seen sytems where 12 hours is enough to warrant a full system tear down and manual cleaning.

The temperature in this system is typically between 25C (77F) and 30C (86F).

What are the materials of construction?
Do you ever 'burst dose"?
Do you have any experience with how fast you get fouling?

The warmer it is the faster things will grow.
And some materials and systems are more sensitive than others.
