Hi All:
Can you provide with a good resource book, guide or document for the subjects noted. A Practical guide would be preferred with examples. Especiallye interested in worked examples of Site Grading for a residential development (2 acres) Thanks!

There's probably no book for this.

Depending on where you live, you may be able to go to the local Planning Department/Clerk and Recorder and look at site plans and grading plans from other developments.

Maybe start by getting the existing, layout the roads and lots. And start figuring out what has to leave and/ or what has to come in. Get the geo report too.

You might look into ASCE website, they have a library selection of engineering books that you can buy (somewhat discounted if you are a member).

I purchased a book called 'Residential Land Development Practices-A Textbook on Developing Land Into Finished Lots'--David E. Johnson. I guess it was ok, had some info that I didn't already know.

Civilman72 suggestion is good. You can go to the local municipality and obtain copies of other developments for commercial or residential, those will give you a pretty good idea how the drawings are put together in your area, what sort of things are on the drawings, etc.

Whenever I have a prospective development, I will as a matter of course research engineering drawings for both the public infrastructure (roads, utilities), as well as adjacent developments. Sometimes you can find that previous designs have performed regional analysis that you can reference or use in your development so as not to re-invent the wheel. (I.E. drainage sheds, capacity in utilities, etc)

Thanks guys, really appreciate your comments, input and time!
