larger diameter mechanical face seals

Greetings!
Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a seal with a 6" bore that can seal at least 750psi at 1800rpm? I have been looking into off the shelf mechanical seals for my application, and have noticed that most seals top out at around 400psi at this bore dia. and rotational speed.

If no such manufacturers exist, is there any reason why such a seal could not be custom designed?

It will help if you can tell us what the product is to determine if the application is for a single or dual seal. It is unlikely that you will find an off the shelf seal for this application. When you get to this pressure, speed and shaft diameter, care should be taken in the design of the faces to minimise distorion and to ensure a fluid film is maintained. I would recommend Silicon Carbide Vs Carbon but this depends on the product. I have assumed a clean prduct. I would also consider the use of anti extrusion washers to prevent Oring extrusion. Otherwise this is an application for a High Duty Balanced Seal to ensure reliability.
 
There a lots of manufacturers that make seals to fit these dimensions and conditions. You will be talking about an engineered design. You need to provide more information as to what you are actually trying to seal, etc.; you will not just be able to purchase something 'off the shelf' in this case. Do you have a seal supplier you currently work with? Consulting with them would be a good first step.

Sorry, I forgot to mention we are just sealing water at room temperature. But yeah, it looks like we would need a custom seal for that sort of diameter. I am currently working on ways to use a smaller diameter seal.

If I can get the diameter down to 2.5" (which I think I can) then I can use a John Crane 8B1 seal which should give me around 800psi for my conditions.

Just make sure you evaluate your face materials in relation to the size, speed, temperature, and sealed fluid lubricity. The upper PV limit listed for the mechanical seal gets derated depending on these factors. If you go with this seal, which is a good one to select IMO, I would have someone from John Crane review the application regardless.
 
You can use Silicon Carbide x Carbon or even, Silicon Carbide x Silicon carbide with Carbon Impregnated when hard faces are recommended.

For this case, the peripherical speed is not high, 14,3 m/s. it should be a challenge if it was upper than 23 m/s.
