For many years my company was specialized on manufacturing machinery parts, based on customers design. (We got CAD files from them). But now it appears that customers want us to build extra part to their existing machine with no CAD files of perform a reverse engineering for some parts of it. In this case it seems, that we have to buy a 3d scanner. As I know laser scanners are designed for this purpose. But I have ability to get Artec Spider with a big discount. As I understood it's a structured light scanner. Manufacturers site says Spider can be used for reverse engineering, but i'm not sure, that it would be the right choice. So I need some help with it. And if not Spider than which Laser scanner could you recommend? Creaform one?
