Latest Update 6253 margins all screwed up for printing

I know you already know that there are issues, but it is not just the left margin but ALL of them are messed up when you try to print.

This is extremely annoying and inconvenient and I hope it is resolved soon.

No only does it affect printing in Compress, it also affects printing from Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer. There are no margins there either unless you use Page Setup and readjust margins.

Yes, you will have to reset your margins in Internet Explorer and any other software that uses IE for display (such as Outlook).

A new build will be issued in a couple weeks (likely less).

As "interesting background" comments:

1- there are no scheduled builds, other than once per year for new Code Edition/Addenda

2- we plan on releasing 2-3 intermediate updates per year for bug fixes and new features,

3- "2" notwithstanding, the past 2 years (or maybe this is the third year in a row) have seen some extremely difficult programming updates that were originally planned for release around the fourth month of the year but were then delayed and delayed for a long time, several months, due to various issues.

4- Current conditions are far better than those of some years ago where we would release a number of updates each year (4-5-6 or more). If there was some minor issue, we would release a patch or new build to cover it. So many updates was a burden for all parties: customers, their IT personnel, and our own quality checking could not keep up. At that time we decided to "slow down" and reign in the number of new builds released to a measured pace. More aggressive QA was instituted through IBM's automated testing software to assure congruence between builds (any differences must be explained as result of bug fix or new feature, or is itself a new bug) and written QA procedures were implemented (these are described in Manual on our website) and followed.

Contemporary Windows-based software makes things look so simple when compared to not so long ago when calculations packages were put together as a collection of hand calculations, spreadsheets, and half-a-dozen or more fortran programs. Now a vessel can be easily designed in an afternoon versus the several weeks or longer that it took in the past. Behind the scenes it isn't so easy and perhaps should not be made to look so easy.

In any case, I believe the print margins issue was a result of changes to build 6253 for Windows Vista compatility.
