Hi,

I can understand your points,

But I can just find the latest Available releases in these sites, not the mostly used version or the new developing versions.

For example I heard in V4, 4.2.2 is used mostly than 4.2.4

I am basically a I-DEAS person(9 years) working on V4 from last +1 year and V5 from last 2 months

I am also intereted to know, How the User conference and Beta testing is done for the New releases of CATIA V5 and V4.

Ah... You want statistical data.

I have no idea where you would find aggregate data on who is using what.

I'm sorry. I must have misunderstood your question.

User conferences for Catia are conducted somewhat regularly by Catia Operator's Exchange, in various places around the US, and by local RUG's or "Regional User Groups." If you are outside of the US, you should check in your locale, or consider forming your own user group.

Beta testing is conducted differently, depending on how many users are located at a particular site, or within a particular company. Some companies utilize IT staff for Beta testing, others use paid volunteer employees, (who are moderated by IT management) some use third party, and there may be other methods... In the case of small companies, there may be no beta-testing at all, so it's a fairly open-ended question.

If I might ask - why are you interested in knowing about V4 and CADAM? (CADAM is no longer, by the way, and V4 will only be maintained - no new development)

Hi,

Thanks for lot of inputs regarding Beta-testing.

I knew about V4 that developments have stopped.... but i do not knew much about CADAM.

I may have to work on CADAM drawings to V5 conversion...

Never heard about CADAM?? so just raised a query for an update.

CATIA-CADAM Drafting, or CCD, is the latest generation of the old mainfram CADAM (not Helix!). It currently follows the same V5RXX pattern as CATIA V5, but they don't tend to have quite so many service packs.

As for most commonly used, it varies greatly depending upon industry, company, and size of company. Smaller companies tend to install every release and sp, larger companies tend to install fewer, and the biggest companies tend skip releases, and only implement a single SP of any release.
