Hi.
I am looking at purchasing an automotive scantool and the one I was looking at in particular is the Launch X431.

Does anybody have any experience with these tools - either good or bad and if so any comments would be appreciated.

I sell a lot of differnt types of scan tools and the x431 is the newest line that I have taken on. I am not a technichian but from what I hear from the techs out there is it does a lot more than tools I sell 4 x's as much. But on the other hand it is not the magic crystal ball that everyone and his brother are looking for out there. It does have some limits that you will only get with the factory tool. For example if you only work on Mercedes Benz and will not touch any other car then in my profesinoal opinion the x431 is AWSOME when it comes to Mercedes but if thats all you work on and can not afford the Factory "Star DAS" (buyer beware of the clones) Then I would say go with Carsoft. Carsoft is the next closest thing to the factory but still cost a little more than the X431 but only does Mercedes for a price higher than X431 but does a lot more than X431. The next closest thing for Mercedes is the X431 in my opinon. They are both upgradeable via the web by the way. But if you intened on using X431 for everything under the sun I bet you will be super Happy with it as is 95 percent of the techs that I talk to who have it. Only the MB BMW specialist wish they would of went with the Carsoft in the U.S. that is. Carsoft is coming out with more models soon to the U.S., they already have other models avalible in other parts of the world. I am curious as to what cars you are going to be using the X431 for ? Good luck and theres my opinon for ya

Peace out

Hi,
Thanks for the input.
I have a small workshop in a country town and would be using it on various types of vehicles - both imported and local Australian.
At present we have no scan tool of any type and this tool seemed to have the best bang for the buck so to speak.
I have had demos on several other scan tools but am still having difficulty parting with the cash for any at this time.
I feel the time is coming closer as vehicles become more sophisticated and less are able to give flash codes.

Again, Thanks for the input.
