What program are you using?

AutoCAD, Microstation, ???

AutoCAD 2005, with LDD and Civil 3D.

Are you trying to offset lets say a circle and put that offset circle on a different layer? if so, create a new layer for the offset; make that layer current; then create that offset circle in that current layer.

I have about 10,000 lf of road centerline that will be offset 25' each side. I need to be able to offset the centerlines and automatically put them on the "right-of-way" layer when they are offset.

Not only is that exactly what I needed but the links you provided also has other great lisp routines. Thank you very much!!!

there is an autocad forum on eng-tips.com. you may want to check that out also

assuming that all of the 10,000 offsets are in one drawing, use the selection rectangular window (solid rectangle) on all the offsets and you can make several of the selection windows as to capture the entire lengths of the offsets but be carefull not to capture other non needed features; then make the layer inwhich you want to transfer these offsets current and enter.

The ExOffset command in Express tools offsets to either the current or the source layer.

I can't believe I overlooked that. Thank you very much!
