Is there a way to lock the layer status in a viewport? i.e. newly created layers not showing in old viewports. I know Express Tools Layer Manager can save and restore layer status in current viewport, but new layers are still visible. Acad 2002

Thanks- Larry

From my experience, when you create the new layer, you can select the "new vp freeze" button within the layers manager (very end of selections on right) for whatever layers you want. This will freeze the layers in any NEW viewports, but not in the old view ports. You still have to go in and manually freeze the layers in the old viewports.

With this in mind, you could erase the old viewports and create new ones after you have selected the layers that you want frozen, and this might work for you (works for me).

Hope this helps

Thanks- further investigation unearthed the vplayer command which almost accomplishes what I want, freezes new layers in all viewports. Too bad there is no dialog box though.

Erasing and creating new viewports isn't an option, as the dwgs I use sometimes have 500+ layers and dozens of layout tabs.
