I've prepared several hundred/thousand details in autocad over the last couple of decades. I use a layer naming scheme that roughly incorporates the AIA, and my colours/pen weights are different. From my questions on this forum, you might guess that I have no 'formal' training in CAD work... all been by the 'scruff of the neck'.

For projects in the office, I often use my 'standard details' and provide the draftsman with digital copies of the details for their use. The office (and the client, sometimes) has their own layer naming and lineweight standard.

Is there an easy manner of changing the one layer/colour scheme to another?

Hi dik,

You could use script files, LISP/VB/VBA/C etc to perform these tasks for you. You may even find something canned out there you can just "tweak" a bit to match your needs.

There isn't a 'script' text file that can be used. It's not a matter of having the client convert his layer/colour scheme to the one I use, which is different from the company's. I have for limited use frozen layers and converted them, but it's a real pain.

Hi dik,

Sorry I wasn't clear enough, you'd have to create these, but it sounds like Exxit's suggestion would be the best for you.

Good Luck!

Thanks, gentlemen... Dik
