How would I change the nozzle height for cutting 1/8" wall 3" tubing? Years ago I ran a Mazak that would detect the top of material. Not the case now. Do I just change the cutting condition to 3" material? Seems like that would change more than the nozzle height and would think its trying to cut 3" Material.
Any advice?

Have you considered turning the tube 45 deg? That would make the cutting thickness nearly constant, aside from the corners. Or does it need to follow the contour? If the latter, then you might need to put the tube on some sort of rotary spit?

TTFN (ta ta for now)

Hi, I am not trying to cut around the corners etc. I am simply wanting to cut a hole on the top surface. But the tubing is 4" Square. I am not sure how to tell the machine to cut 1/8" thick material at 4" high off the bed.
Thanks

In the upper left of the cutting condition page, there is a setting that says "thick", or indicates the thickness of the metal you are intending to cut.

Set this to 3.5". (just to be safe).

The z stroke is short on that machine. Be careful.

Perhaps remove the sheet metal supports to place the underside of the tube face at the height the supports would have held it were that face a piece of sheet metal?

One site specifically states "Option to cut tubes | no"
In contrast the AMADA - FO RI 3015 is designed for sheet metal and tube cutting. (RI = Rotary Index) There are several others.

By the way - removing the sheet metal supports and replacing them with the tube holder is how the RI machines work - the sheet metal supports and RI system are on trolleys that roll into position as required. No need for that if you are willing to flip or position the tube by hand.
