I have a problem with LCD panels. My LCD panel is similar to those shown in the link. I have it on a mobile printer. The problem is that the alpha numeric windows have black areas where the pixels are lit up. I first thought it is maybe because the plastic cover over the display is pressing against the LCD but I took off the plastic and it still has it. Does anybody have a clue why this happens?

The black areas are solid black? The seal around the LCD material is broken, and oxygen is slowly degrading it. No way to repair. You need to replace it.

Thanks for you reply. I also want to add though, that it goes away when it is turned off. It also goes away when there is a character on it, i.e. the character block overlayers the black area. Does that still resembles a broken seal?
