Lead Shot Question

Does anyone have ideas where/why .75mm dia soft lead shot might be used in a manufacturing operation? Besides the obvious, like shot gun shell manufacturing, leaded steel manufacturing and heat treat lead baths.

We used small lead shot for radiation shielding, counter weights, and secret process, actually as an electrode in an electrochemical process.

Lockheed used to fill the fuel tanks of Saturn rockets with lead shot and water,then shake the entire thing for stress testing. I was in on the tear out of the building(fun).

Ballast, counterweights, vibration dampening - lead shot pours into hollow spaces quite nicely.

Bags of lead shot are used in test shelve in life science equipment like incubators and environmental chambers. I believe it is a CSA standard.
