Hi all
I dont have a copy of AWWA C600-82. I am wondering if I need to include residential lot water services (i.e. the main stop and curb stop and 25mm pipe) as "joints" in the PVC (metric)leakage calculation (L=(NDP^0.5)/128320) for allowable leakage in a new water main.
On a 365m long test, 40 services would certainly add much more allowable leakage if I were using 2 joints per service in the calc.
If anyone has a copy of this standard, a PDF sure would be appreciated! civil_corruption@yahoo.ca

Thanks a lot.

I believe the C600 standard you refer to is actually for "Installation of Ductile-Iron Water Mains and their Appurtenances". Also, the 1982 revision of that standard it appears you refer to is obsolete, and was superseded by later standard revisions. I don't believe the current/ controlled version of the C600 standard gives any testing or make-up water allowance relief for increased numbers of joints in a test section, nor specifically for that matter increased numbers of "services" per se. However, Section 5.2.1.6.2 of the current standard does state, "When testing against closed metal-seated valves, an additional testing allowance per closed valve of 0.0078 gal/h/in. (1.2mL/h/mm) of nominal valve size shall be allowed."
Of course ANSI/AWWA standards are copyrighted.
