Hello,

I wanted to inquire whether LED light fixtures i.e. integrated solid state LED panels with separate driver are more preferable to light fixtures with medium base to install LED lamps?

Both the medium base LED lamps as well as the LED light fixtures seems to have 25,000 - 50,000 hrs. of rated life. But the LED lamps could be easily replaced rather than LED light fixtures. So I wanted to inquire which one would be preferred on initial cost and maintenance perspective.

Thank you.

There is probably not a more vast area of choice to discuss. You have not come anywhere near the place that someone could give even an educated guess about.

If you want an answer you need need to come back with a MUCH more detailed story-line of your lighting requirement.

In my experience of medium/high power LED lighting, retrofitting LED lamps to a luminaire designed for another lamp type doesn't result in good lamp life because the luminaire is not designed to effectively extract head from the LED assembly.

Thank you for the response and I apologize if I've not provided enough details.

I wanted to basically understand, if any luminaire designed to accept lamps with medium base such as incandenscent, CFL, o LED is usually more preferable on a lamp/fixture life and maintenance perspective OR installing a LED luminaire with integrated LED module and driver.

If I understand correctly, for new installations installing a LED luminare would be more preferable, whereas for an existing light fixture which has incandescent/CFL lamps, LED lamp would be a better energy saving alternative.
