Hi everyone,

I am wondering for those of us who are based in Australia, could we use the calculation methodology as per HB101 and HB102 for AS3835 to evaluate the AC induction voltages for a pipeline?

The AS3835 is titled "Earth Potential Rise - Protection of telecommunications network users, personnel and plant". The AS3835 and the accompanying HB101/HB102 handbooks give some manual calculations to estimate the AC induction voltages.

The AS4853 is titled "Electrical hazards on metallic pipelines" - whilst it also give some calculation methods - it is harder to apply.

Considering the communication cablings and the pipelines are both impacted by the AC interference, is there a difference in the application of either standard?

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
