License allocation

Hi Guys,

I have a small requirement here.We use CATIAV5 R18 with LUM here.The requirement is to allot only one XM2 license to the hybrid team.When the team tries to pick more than one license the message should pop up as "xm2 license already allotted".The hybrid team contains 4 people.Any inputs will be appreciated.Thanks in Advance.

don't think it's possible directly.

LUM gives only ALLOW and DISALLOW rules, DSLS also have RESERVE and LIMIT.

But if you read the LUM doc, you can think about checking license usage on that license every x minutes and you modify the restriction file accordingly.

If no license used by group, then remove restriction
If license(s) used, then allow only the user of the group who grab the license first.

Next time CATIA will check, it will kick out user define in restriction (this is a new stuff after HF15)

you will not prevent group user from getting 2 or more license but after x minute(s) you will make it nice.

Other solution: you report license request / release and monitor the report to act on restriction.
if user ask at same time it might allow them to get the license. Chances are slim but...

or you DISALLOW all 4 in group, monitor request and check for denial then you remove user from group if the group is 4.

you will have to check if user release the license to bring her/him back in the denial group.

User will have to ask for license twice, but this will prevent more than one license usage by the group.


I like DSLS for this option even if I find its possibilities limited

If you are talking about HF15 ( FP 15 ) do u mean v6 ( 3dexp)?.Please clarify.
