We have a couple of seats of Catia V5-6R2013 and were looking at the option of doing a TOS (Termination of Support) which would be valid for 5 years, this could work as apparently Dassault has apparently not going to keep developing V5 in any meaningful way.
My question is if we go this route would it be more expensive when you have to reactivate and pay the backdated maintenance plus 50% uplift charge or just carry on and pay the ALC (Annual License Charge)?. Or are there any other options that would be more reasonable.

We did an ALC study a few years back for our 70+ seats of varying configurations. Without uploading the document, basically 4 years of ALC = the amount of the license + the first year ALC. If you TOS your license it would save you 1 year ALC, reactivation would eat up 4 years of your savings when you purchase the key again. You would get no updates to keep pace with suppliers that migrate forward. For some users this is not a problem.

We would find a significant loss of functionality immediately because too many of our customers apparently upgrade company-wide immediately upon the release of a new version of CATIA V5. If it wasn't for needing access of those documents, we wouldn't need the actual "improvements". I've always suspected that the primary incentive that Dessault has for releasing new versions is to come up with new schemes for file obfuscation so as to avoid mass TOS. But I'm just so cynical.

Thanks for the insights, as I thought, carry on with the support as we are, damned if you do and damned if you don't.
