I have a question about licensing.
Can my SolidWorks license be sold? Or is it illegal?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

SolidWorks Help said:
This is a license agreement and not an agreement for sale.

1.A. Grant of License. SolidWorks grants to you a nonexclusive nontransferable license to use the Software and the printed and/or electronic user documentation (the "Documentation") accompanying the Software in accordance with this Agreement.

I believe the licenses can be transferred in the case of company buyout, etc., but otherwise not. So, to my understanding, if I sold my business, the SolidWorks license would be included as part of the deal.

Check with your VAR if in doubt.

Reason trumps all. And awe trumps reason.

I have been involved in several acquisitions, and each time the CAD licenses went over to the "new" company, no problem. As for selling licenses, VAR's are authorized to do that; end users are not.

Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it.
