Hi,

I recently had a health check done on my PC, and since then when I load ProEngineer it comes up with a Warning License Request Failure - Invalid Host (See attached image). The software does not load.

I am using Wildfire 4, I don't use the software often and I am not on support...so can anyone help as we have legacy data on ProE.

Check the license file name in the <loadpoint>\bin\proe.psf file. ('proe' may be something different.)
ENV=PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE-=7788@<your_license_server_name>

Klaxon1,

Scroll down in the error details and copy the error without company sensitive info here.

Ben Loosli above post is pointing you to the proe startup file which will sometimes allow a company to have different start ups with different functionality enabled for Analysis or other Mold Design users.

You also may be getting the error for a local install of ProE which should point to a license.dat file. Individual or Node Locked licenses point to a file on your Hard Drive which was generated based on your "Host-ID" or "MAC-Address"
The easiest way to find it is to put in an installation disc which will specify your Machine's Physical Address code open a command prompt
1)Use: Win+R or Start Menu > Run - to open run menu
2)type: cmd
3)Hit: Enter - This will open a command prompt DOS window
4)type: ipconfig /all |more - Hit enter
5) You will see a detailed summary of your PC's current ethernet data. You're looking for the second set of data on first screen
Ethernet adapter EthernetAdapterName:
You will see a summary of all the ip info for your ethernet card ID
for the following line.
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 12-AX-C3-5U-42-SW
ask an IT guy if those still exist
If they replaced your ethernet card which is responsible for the Host-ID with another you'll need to find it and put it back for ProE to work otherwise you're truly screwed. and maybe the IT dope can shell out the thousands of dollars to rebuy ProE for the full price plus the forced support charge which is a new policy.
The following sample.reg file shows the loccation where your installation info on install date original license file used during install and the last working license location. Do not attempt to create or run this file even when replacing the OO with 00.

I renamed some of the paths for my install but do show my naming convention of preceding Wildfire with the code #

Feel free to post any follow up questions if you'e not utterly confused by the lengthy answer to your post I wish you the best in your venture. If you work in MAssachusetts which I know may be a long shot. Maybe I can come to your office and help out even just for support. I could do so for a cost way lower than PTC support or your former reseller.
