Hello,

I am relatively new to light gauge steel design. Looking through AISI S100, I see no provisions for flange local bending. Does anyone know if this is referenced in any AISI code?

Thanks

It will be a few hours before I have my copy of AISI available, but it definitely includes flange local bending.

We'll see what Lo comes up with but I, also, thought that this was something lacking from AISI (at least the older versions).

Some folks will use CFSEI's bulletin for checking deep leg tracks for this purpose. You can find it free here: Link

Sorry all.. wasn't awake yet and read flange local buckling. Doh!

Are you looking at a stud to track connection? If so, take a look at AISC 240-15 (the "new" combined 200 series document), specifically in B3.2.5.1 Stud-to-Track Connection for C-Section Studs.

It's a little different from KootK's post. I haven't looked into it enough to see if something substantive changed between 2007 and 2015, or if it's the result of going from a 'shallow leg' track with direct fastening and load sharing between legs to a deep leg deflection track resisting loads only through bearing.
