Lighting Protection

I am a manufature of a remote data collection unit, solar powered, 12VDC battery, Cell phone, data collector. I am using a 0-5VDC water level transmitter down a well. Is there any good lighting protectors that can pretect my equipment.

Please clarify if you are referring to lighting protection or lightning protection.

For lightning protection surge arrester and lightning rods connected to ground is normally used to mitigate the effect of the surge overvoltage that often damage the solar cell.

Suggestion: A lightning arrester rated at a voltage level that would protect the dc equipment. A schematic diagram would be required to determine the actual voltage rating of the arrester. The arrester may have to be custom built, if the special voltage rating is required.
