We are designing an electrical system for a temporary precast facility in Florida. The customer has requested inclusion of a lightning protection system. A review of the NEC, FL building codes and NFPA 780 does not show any specific requirements for temporary structures. We are looking at installing loop conductors using 2/0 bare copper wire with ground rods spaced no more than every 100ft around the affected work areas. NFPA 780 and the NEC requires the lightning protection system grounding terminals to be bonded to the building or structure grounding system. My question is what guidance is available with regards to connecting the separate lightning protection conductor loops to each other. I understand they will be contacted via the structure grounding systems but should we run an additional 2/0 bare copper wire between the loop conductors.
