Lightweight Assemblies - BOM - Part Properties

I don't think that this is normal behavior?

I have an assembly full of parts. All parts have configuration-specific properties. These properties are used in a SolidWorks BOM on a drawing. I'm using 2007.

If I open the assembly normally, then open the drawing, the BOM displays all properties correctly.

If I open the assembly lightweight, then open the drawing, all properties in the BOM are gone. The BOM is empty.

I've never used lightweight assemblies before--never needed to. I'm using SW2007 now and I'd like to try them again. Is what I'm seeing normal?
