Aging of the adhesive in sun is a worry item. Perhaps this needs alternate adhesion systems. The EAA has been exemplary in trying new things and courageously flight testing them. Rutan's pioneering Space Ship One comes to mind.
The story about the author's loss of fabric in flight and safe landing afterward is not the best testimony.
