LIMIT SWITCHES

Limit switches have been purchased for a project that have EX II 2 G D EEX(d) II B T6 Explosion proof classification. I am now being told that they must be proximity type switches and conform to IP 65 to IEC 60529 [b/]. My question to someone is:

Would the EEX(d) classification limit switch meet the IP 65 to IEC 60529 code? Are these codes broad enough to encompase the EEX(d) class? Must I have EEX(ia or ib) to meet these codes? I'm looking at having to switch out my limit swithces if the code specifically states EEX(d) does not meet these codes.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

IEC 60529 only deals with ingress of dust and water. It has nothing to do with equipment in hazardous areas.

Your EExd switch may be IP65 (most likely it is). It may be on the nametag, or the EExd certificate, or the supplier can advise you.
