Limiter Lugs

Working on a project where a recent short circuit study showed some existing equipment overdutied by a slight margin. Was thinkig of installing limiter lugs to reduce available short circuit current. Does anyone have experience using limiter lugs to reduce short circuit currents?

They don't reduce the fault current.

Limiter lugs are intended to protect the cables from short circuit damage. The do not reduce fault current; however, the clear quickly when subjected to a high fault current. They may not operate in their current-limiting range if the fault current is a lower level fault as is sometimes the case in arcing faults. One draw-back to them is that adequate space for them is necessary at their termination points. I have had difficulty with some smaller pad-mount transformers being able to accommodate them.

Another drawback is that they don't coordinate with anything downstream.
