Hello,

Using ANSYS workbench 12, I am trying to analyze loading for a vehicle space frame. The frame is modeled as a weldment in solidworks, using 3D sketches to create the geometry, and standard cross sections applied to the lines to create a solid frame. I've done analysis on the solid frame, and I'm not happy with how long it takes due to the number of elements required to properly model the thin tubes.

So I've successfully imported the lines into ansys WB 12, applied cross sections, brought it into Mechanical, applied meshes (beam elements), constraints, and loads. However when I solve I get the following error:

"Solver pivot warnings have been encountered during the solution. This is usually a result of an ill conditioned matrix possibly due to unreasonable material properties, an under constrained model, or contact related issues. Check results carefully."

I think I've determined this is due to the fact that none of the lines appear to be connected to each other (ie to lines sharing an endpoint in space but still being able to move freely apart).

What is the correct way to connect the lines? With contact constraints? I've been beating my brains out over this so any help would be appreciated.

Attached is an image of the meshed model.
