Line normal to a surface doesn't measure so.

There's something wrong with the attached file. I cannot download.

I created a new example. Sphere + line normal to the sphere face.
I do not find the measuring method to get the expected results.

Tomas

If you select a cylindrical face for an angle measurement, NX will use the axis of the cylinder as a reference. A sphere doesn't have a natural axis, so NX assigns one at creation (I believe that it is parallel to the absolute X axis); this "assigned" axis is used when a sphere is chosen as one of the objects in an angle measurement.

How to measure a line to surface angle properly in NX?
If you have an arbitrary line that passes through the sphere surface, I'd suggest creating a line from the sphere center to the intersection of the existing line and the sphere then measuring the angle between the lines.

For the general case of finding the normal to any curvy surface, the geometric properties command will report the surface normal given a surface and a point. Alternately, you can create a line through a given point and normal to the surface then use the line as a reference in the measure command.

You are probably correct in the assignment of an "sphere axis" = X.
I created a line normal to the sphere at a "random point" , used "Point on face" as the snap option then "normal" to the face.
This line is probably correct.
If I try measure the angle by "Object" - "select line and select the face" NX seems to project the line onto the X-Y plane then measure line to X, which isn't what one, normally(?) , wants.
But i found that :
I can measure between the line and the correct face normal IF I use the combination of "object and vector", when defining the vector, i use "Face Normal" and then the vector sub dialog allows me to select the position of the "normal point", which i snap to the intersection between line-face. ( - It works but are many steps.)
