Linetype in Layout Space 1

I'm building a pipeline map that covers about 50 square miles. I'm using linetypes to indicate different pipe sizes. In the "model" layout I put "linetype scale" to "50" and the dashed lines show up as dashes.

The problem is that when I go to an output layout, Autocad doesn't seem to honor the scale and all lines show up as solid.

I went into "model space" on the output layer and zoomed the map in to less than 1 square mile and the lines were still solid.

Anyone have any ideas?

Model and layout space scale lines differently. What units did you draw in? If your units are inches and you drew pipe lengths in inches, then 50 inches is not much. To get lines to show and plot properly in layout space, go to Format / LineType and make sure to check "Use paper space units for scaling". Then set ltscale to 1.

You need to change LTSCALE setting. What has happened is your lineweight is too large for the dashes. This command is universal to the drawing.

Also try modifying your "psltscale" (paper-space line-type scale), and see if that helps.

CADSTUDENT gets the star. It was a bunch of trial and error, but if I set the scale for the line at 10 and the LTSCALE at 0.01 then the dashes showed up. Without the LTSCALE command-line command none of the rest of it worked.
