Hi all,
I am trying to understand more about the contact properties used in finite element analysis packages. I am using Abaqus and I have been defining different values of friction coefficient between contact surfaces. The values I tend to use is between frictionless and 0.3. However I have never seen any difference in the von Mises, principal or shear stresses? I would have thought these values would have been effected by this especially according to contact theory.
