Hi,
I want to change cross section shape of the LINK8 element. I can change cross sectional area but I cant change the shape.

I used sections-beam-common sections and selected circular as sub type. But when I draw LINK 8 it appears as a rectangular shape. Can anyone help me to solve this problem? Thank you!!

LINK8 elements are no longer documented by ANSYS; they've been replaced by LINK180 elements. In either case, I don't think that the elements handle bending, so the cross-sectional shape shouldn't matter, only the area.
If you need to model bending, perhaps a BEAM188 or BEAM189 element would be more appropriate. BEAM188 elements handle bending and can accept a generalized cross section for an input. Check out the Ansys Element reference for more details.

it is not possible to apply cross section for link elements.and the only input to real constant of link elements is cross sectional area. if you want to apply specific cross section and also its bending is important for you you have to use Beam 188 and 189 elements. link elements can only bear tension and compression and not bending.
