I'm interested if anyone has had some experience with pumping liquid CO2 at 450 bar. Our application is to pump 15 litres/second of liquid CO2 at 450 bar on a continuous basis. There are plenty of piston pump manufacturers that make pumps for bottle filling, however when we mention continous duty (24/7) they decline to guarantee their pumps.
We have looked at compressors but the cost for small flowrate in not viable.

P.S I am a new user of eng-tips, should this be posted on other forums ?

fert,

Try FLOWSERVE, Sulzer, Ebara and KSB. These companies all manufacture large boiler feed pumps (pressures in the range that you are considering). Your capacity may be too small for this high head.

They are in bussiness of making such pumps.

24/7 is not really a problem, providing how long the 24/7 time persists. Secondly, why would you need to keep this presure for that length of time. We are experts in CO2 design for various things, including pumps, fire protection,
and inspection services and have not seen this use before. Reply to Ernie at CO2Central@aol.com
